Each week leading up to our Farm-to-Table Dinner on November 9th, we’re spotlighting two incredible makers from the Oconee Farmers Market— 🥖 one baker, who brings warmth and flavor to our tables, and 🔨 one artisan, whose craft adds creativity and beauty to our community.
This week, we’re thrilled to introduce you to Sarah Ackerman of Wildflour Sourdough Bakery and Jon Hobus of Hammer of Hobus.

Baking bread isn’t just about flour and water—it’s about nourishment, care, and connection. For Sarah Ackerman of Wildflour Sourdough Bakery, what began as a personal mission to create a healthier loaf for her family has blossomed into a thriving bakery that feeds our community with heart.

Sarah’s breads are naturally leavened with sourdough, baked in small batches from scratch, and often made with locally sourced ingredients. She takes joy in knowing her bread is part of family dinners, friendly gatherings, and quiet moments at home. Every loaf is a celebration of clean, simple food and the love of sharing it.

For Jon Hobus of Hammer of Hobus, blacksmithing is more than shaping metal—it’s a life built around sparks, creativity, and persistence.
Jon’s journey began in high school, when weekends spent with a backyard forge turned into a passion for metalwork. He later studied welding at North Georgia Technical College, earned certifications in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding, and gained experience teaching and working in local industry. But with encouragement from his girlfriend Julianne, Jon left factory life in January to pursue blacksmithing full time.

Today, his days are spent in the shop, hammer in hand, crafting unique works like his recent piece “Tree Hugger”—inspired by nothing more than a pile of scrap metal spotted while waiting for a Home Depot order. For Jon, inspiration can come from anywhere, and every piece reflects both skill and imagination.
✨ Together, Sarah and Jon represent the heart of our market—makers who create with passion, dedication, and joy. We’re honored to feature their talents at the Farm-to-Table Dinner this November.
