There is something about this time of year that feels a little different.
Summer is still hanging on, but the days are beginning to feel just a little shorter, and before we know it, we'll be trading those long, hot summer days for crisp mornings, fall colors, and the wonderful harvests that come with a new season.
But for now, we have another Saturday morning at the Market—and we hope you'll spend part of it with us!
The Oconee Farmers Market is open this Saturday from 9:00 AM–1:00 PM at Wire Park, and our farmers, bakers, makers, artisans, and small businesses will be here with plenty of wonderful things to discover.
Bring your market bag, bring the family, and come see what's waiting for you!
There's Always Something New at the Market
One of the things we love most about the Farmers Market is that no two Saturdays are exactly alike.
The seasons change. The crops change. Our vendors bring different things. New creations appear on tables, favorite products return, and sometimes you find something you didn't even know you were looking for!
You might come for fresh produce and leave with a loaf of bread.
You might stop by for honey and discover a beautiful handmade piece.
You might come looking for something for dinner and leave with flowers, a sweet treat, and a new favorite local maker.
That's part of the fun.
You never quite know what you'll find until you come see us.
September Is Just Around the Corner
It's hard to believe, but we're getting very close to September!
That means we're also getting closer to some of the special events we have planned for the months ahead.
🍂 Harvest Fest - October 24
One of our favorite times of the year! We'll celebrate the fall season with our vendors, customers, families, and community.
🎬 Movie Night & Black Saturday — November 13 & November 29
Our regular market season may end in October, but that doesn't mean we're disappearing! Watch for details about these special November events.
🎄 Christmas at Wire Park — December 12 & 19
And before we know it, we'll be celebrating Christmas! It's a wonderful opportunity to shop small, shop local, and find unique gifts while supporting local
businesses and artisans.
We'll be sharing dates, details, and more information about each of these events as we get closer, so stay tuned!

🍇Produce Spotlight - Muscadines
A Little Taste of Georgia's Early Fall
If there's one fruit that lets us know fall is on its way, it's the muscadine!
These sweet, Southern grapes are a true Georgia favorite, with their distinctive flavor and beautiful bronze, purple, and black varieties. Muscadines are grown right here in Georgia and are in season through the fall, making September the perfect time to enjoy them.
Enjoy them fresh by the handful, add them to a fruit salad, or use them to make jams, jellies, and other homemade treats.
Sweet, local, and wonderfully Southern — muscadines are one of the special tastes of Georgia's harvest season!

🥕 Did You Know
Carrots are a pretty fascinating crop! Those little “baby carrots” you see at the grocery store usually aren't young carrots at all. Most are regular carrots that have been cut, shaped, and polished into those familiar little pieces.
And carrots aren't always orange—they can be purple, red, yellow, white, and orange! The first cultivated carrots were primarily purple and yellow, with orange varieties becoming popular much later.
Carrots have also been grown for more than 1,000 years, and they're actually biennial plants, meaning they normally take two growing seasons to complete their life cycle. During the first year, the carrot stores energy in its root, and if left in the ground, it can flower and produce seeds the following year.
Even their shapes can vary, with different varieties producing long, short, thick, tapered, or cylindrical roots. Who knew there was so much to love about a carrot? 🥕
Fresh. Local. Seasonal.
That's what farmers market shopping is all about.

September Has a Feeling
There’s just something about September. Even though Georgia can still give us plenty of warm days, there’s a little change in the air. The gardens are changing, the harvest is changing, and our Saturday mornings at the Market begin to take on a different feel.
I love this time of year at the Farmers Market because it reminds me how closely our Market follows the seasons. What you find on the tables in September isn’t quite the same as what you found in June or July—and that’s part of the magic.
Every week brings something new, and I never get tired of seeing what our farmers and vendors bring through the gates. There’s always something different to discover, another conversation to have, and another reason to slow down and enjoy a Saturday morning together.
I also want to take a moment to say thank you to all of you who have supported the Oconee Farmers Market over these past six months. Whether you’ve been with us every Saturday or have stopped by whenever you could, your support means so much to our vendors and to all of us who work to make the Market happen. Every visit, every purchase, and every friendly conversation helps make our Market the special community gathering it has become.
And we still have plenty of Saturdays ahead! We have two more full months of our regular Saturday Markets, and then we’ll head into our November and December holiday events. We’re already looking forward to those special days and all the fun they will bring.
So here’s to September—new harvests, familiar faces, two more wonderful months of Saturday mornings, and an exciting holiday season still ahead of us.
